Founded in 1984 in Bensalem, Pa., Rita s Water Ice Franchise specializes in providing Italian water ice and other novelties. Over the course of more than 20 years, the company has grown to include a franchise network with more than 350 franchised locations in 12 states. Rita s is planning an aggressive expansion program to grow to 1,500 locations by 2010. In May of 2005, Rita's was purchased by Pittsburgh-based McKnight Capital Partners.
