History
Wood River Health Services is a private, non-profit, federally qualified Community Health Center providing top quality care to Southern Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut residents. Created in 1976 in a small storefront in the village of Hope Valley, the population served includes rural towns of small mill villages, farms, open spaces, hiking areas and rivers, and includes the Narragansett Indian Tribe. The area has some of the lowest incomes in the state outside of the inner cities. Travel can be difficult for the poor and the elderly and medical offices and facilities operating in the state's population centers are out of reach for many. Wood River Health Services serves the entire community, those with insurance and those without, and has instituted self-pay models, sliding scale payments and a Community Fund to help those who could not afford care.
Specialties
Wood River Health Services provides medical, dental and behavioral health care and supportive services to all, regardless of ability to pay (sliding scale/payment plans available to income eligible patients).
