Formed in 2001, Brazos Valley Ground Water Conservation District is a local government created by the 77th Texas Legislature. Based in Hearne, Texas, the organization protects and conserves the groundwater resources of Brazos and Robertson counties. It focuses to ensure that enough quality groundwater stays in the area for the future generation. The district also specializes in preventing wastewater, collecting data, educating people about water conservation and preventing irreparable harm to the aquifer. Additionally, the organization works to keep a balance between protecting the rights of private landowners.
