The Texas Historical Commission designs and conducts preservation programs. Founded in 1953, the agency has a staff of more than 100 trained professionals that specializes in archeology, architecture, economic development, heritage tourism, public administration and urban planning. It offers strategic planning, educational program development, collections management, exhibition design and marketing services. The Texas Historical Commission s heritage tourism programs provide technical, financial and marketing assistance to heritage regions throughout Texas. The agency offers construction of historical buildings and archeological sites. It organizes several special events, conferences and tradeshows. The agency also stores a selection of books, posters and videos. The Texas Historical Commission maintains its corporate headquarters in Austin, Texas.
