Lawrence J. Cisek Jr., MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained pediatric urologist with specialized training in minimally invasive surgery and pediatric urology, including fetal urology and intervention. He’s a professor in the Department of Pediatric Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, where he’s chief of the Division of Pediatric Urology and the Richard Andrassy, MD, Endowed Distinguished Professor. Cisek received his doctorate in biochemistry and medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, where he also completed his residency training in urology at the Brady Urological Institute. Cisek was fellowship-trained in minimally invasive and fetal surgery at Harvard University Medical School Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery, affiliated with Boston Children’s Hospital. He then completed his second fellowship in pediatric urology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Before joining UTHealth Houston, Cisek was the director of pediatric urology at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis.
