The State Preservation Board was established in 1983 to preserve, maintain and restore the State Capitol and the General Land Office Building for the benefit of the citizens of Texas. It provides housekeeping, maintenance and ground keeping services at the Capitol, Capitol Extension, Capitol Visitors Center, Capitol Visitors Parking Garage and Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. The board also schedules and manages public events and exhibits, provides interpretation and guided tours and approves changes involving construction, restoration and repair issues. The State Preservation Board also administers several educational programs related to Texas history. It operates the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum.
