Herndon Elementary School, established in 1961, offers educational programs to more than 600 students in kindergarten through grade six. It provides academic programs in various subjects, including reading, writing, English, math, science, social studies and physical education. The school offers the English as a Second Language program for non-English speaking students. In addition, it offers various support programs, including reading recovery, Saturday special school, after-school remediation, tutoring and before-school enrichment activities. The school has a library that offers a variety of educational materials, including magazine articles, maps, timelines, graphs, photos and charts.
