The Hebrew Academy of Tidewater, founded in 1955, is a Jewish community day school. Its curriculum includes Judaic and general studies for Jewish children, from early childhood through grade eight. Its curriculum also includes reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, technology, world geography, computer application and language arts. The school offers extracurricular activities, such as art, band, music, Suzuki violin, physical education, and sports, including basketball, soccer and tennis Its facilities include technology center, classroom computer network, cafeteria and transportation. The school participates in community services and organizes various events, such as camping trips, cultural programs, back pool party, parent s night, grandparent s day and voyage to Israel. It also provides The Tiger Times, a monthly publication for its students. It is a founding member of the Jewish Community Day School Network and has been accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools.
