On July 31, 1953, at Mr. and Mrs. T.M. Hughes' home on Timberlake Road, Dr. Thomas Caroll, Lynchburg District Superintendent, presided over a gathering of residents who had responded to his invitation to plan for the organization of a Timberlake Methodist Church. August 7, at 11:00 A.M. -Thirty -one persons attended and heard the first sermon at the Timberlake Tavern October 4 - fifty-eight persons officially joined the church 2008 ~ 2013 Reverend Robin Lee Colwell and his wife Mary Alice came to Timberlake Don't Go to Church, Be the Church began on Faith in Action Sunday, October 25. Instead of having a church service, members of the congregation went into the community to serve others. The Children's department is remolded and updated to provide modern classrooms and security for the safety of the children. An After School Care program and a Summer Camp are implemented for children in our community. 2013 ~ Present Reverend Lynne Alley-Grant and husband Herb came to Timberlake UMC.
