About EJC The Equal Justice Coalition educates policymakers and the public about the importance of civil legal aid to our communities and advocates for sufficient public funding for civil legal aid in Washington. Originally founded in 1995 to combat slashed federal funding for legal aid, the Equal Justice Coalition has grown to include more than 3, 000 individuals and organizations. Why does Washington need the Equal Justice Coalition? Our laws promise justice for all. But justice is out of reach for the majority of people struggling to survive poverty. Alongside the Alliance for Equal Justice, the Equal Justice Coalition is working to change that reality. State budget shortfall for current biennium Governor calls for General Fund cuts of 6% and next biennium's deficit continues to grow.
