McLane Northwest, located in Tacoma, Wash., was the second division to be established outside of Texas. Originally, the company serviced Washington, Oregon and Idaho and dispatched 27 loads per week with a staff of 90 people. More than 20 years later, it services customers in three additional states that include Montana, Alaska and Hawaii. Products to Alaska and Hawaii are loaded onto containers and delivered by ship to its distant customers. The Northwest team has grown to more than 300 teammates and dispatches 90 loads per week. McLane Northwest, a division of the McLane Company, services the largest customer territory of all the McLane divisions. The McLane Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, employs some 14,000 people nationwide. The company is headquartered in Temple, Texas.
