Appleton Supply Company is a manufacturer of ventilation products and accessories, including roof edging, flashing and other roofing products. It also makes drywall corner bead, wind brace, starter strip, aluminum soffit systems, gutter lines and painted coil stock. About half its sales are in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa. In 1998, the company was acquired by Gibraltar Industries, a manufacturer, processor and distributor of metals and other engineered materials for the building products, vehicular and other industrial markets. Gibraltar has more than 4,000 employees and operates 93 facilities in 29 states, Canada, Mexico and China. The company operates in three segments: building products, processed metal products and thermal processing-heat treating. It is North America s leading ventilation product manufacturer, mailbox manufacturer and cold-rolled strip steel producer. It is the second-largest commercial thermal processor in North America and the No. 2 manufacturer of structural connectors. Gibraltar serves approximately 24,000 customers in the U.S.
