The Sikh Temple started with just 20 families in rented space in the south side of Milwaukee; it has since grown to number in the hundreds. A new Gurdwara was built in Oak Creek to better serve the needs of the growing community. The construction of the 17,500 square-foot Gurdwara was completed in 2007. This beautiful brick building now has updated facilities, library, educational area, a play area for children and parking for 100 cars. It also provides space for child care of infants and small children.
Inside the building is instruction for reading, writing and speaking of Punjabi language, with accommodations for visiting ragi jatha from India and from around the country.
